Just a tip for anyone out there experiencing the 'spinning beach ball of death' in Lync (especially when you receive calls and hang up calls). I had been experiencing this problem for well over a year, when I finally happened to disconnect the USB cable connecting my Mac to my Polycom CX600 desk phone. As soon as I did this, Lync became much more responsive and I have not had a single crash or 'beach ball of death'!

Adium is a free Lync for Mac alternative that doesn’t leave you tearing your hair out like Lync for Mac. With the release of Office 2016 For Mac, there was some hope that Microsoft would finally update Mac users from clunky old Lync 2011 for Mac to either Skype for Business for Mac or at the very least, Lync 2016 For Mac. Microsoft Lync for Mac 2011 (see Lync for Mac 2011 Deployment Guide) Microsoft Communicator for Mac 2011 (see Communicator for Mac 2011 Deployment Guide ) These clients are not supported by Skype for Business Server 2019.
