Mail App For Mac Send Email Repeatedly

Posted on  by  admin

So I sent an email with a large attachment from my PC Outlook 2010/Hotmail email, which I then later on opened in Outlook/Hotmail on my Mac. My MacBook Pro Retina running OS X 10.7.5 with Outlook 2011 for Mac. Since then this 28MB mail has been sending itself every 20 minutes or so on the Mac only.

I have Mail setup for a number of POP email accounts. One of them is a yahoo email account. There are over 5000 emails in this email account.

All word documents on computer. I have already let Mail download all of them once, so now in Mail I can see all 5000 email messages that are in this account. I have Mail set to not delete the messages since I share the account with my wife and we both occasionally access it via webmail.

The problem I have is every time I start Mail, it downloads the new messages, then downloads a block of 528 email messages in the middle of the 5000. It seems to always download the same messages every time Mail starts.

If I scroll down my inbox I can see this block of 500+ emails that have been downloaded multiple times - up to 10 times so far. Anyone else seen this problem? Right now I've deleted this POP account from Mail because I can't find a way to make it stop downloading these messages repeatedly.

Being familiar with this kind of problem I immediately thought it was a ground loop (the sound feels very electric) so I took the various steps detailed on the sound card company's website to get rid of ground loops (trying to hook up all the sockets to the same power outlet, trying different usb ports, swapping the usb cable for another usb cable, removing all other usb peripherals apart from the sound card, etc.), as well as updated to the latest drivers, to no avail.
